The Dream

This one has been sitting here unpublished for a bit. I don’t know why, other than maybe I was scared. Or perhaps it still feels unfinished. (Which it does!) But no matter the reason I want to send it out to the world and wish it the best of luck. Thanks for taking a moment to peek into my mind.

Stuck in an endless dream
I can't tell if it’s me
Who walks beside an old man
Speaking of things that would be

Is this a memory of a thought
One that was left to die
Forgotten to the world outside
Only my mind is left to fly

Matthew has been studying emotions and emotional intelligence since 2010. It was about this time he started to question his own ideas of self, beliefs, and “truth”. During this “search” he came across a book by Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thích Nhất Hạnh. That was the insight that was needed. The ideas and philosophy that were shared in that book led to a need to know more.
